The buggys arrival at it's new home.
Tom talked the seller down to $500.00 from $1000.00....not to shabby.

Somehow this buggy found it's way from Arizona to the Chicago area. I spotted it sitting in front of a farmhouse when I was driving down one of the local gravel roads.

The seats are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. If anybody has an idea what they came out of, let me know.

It looks as if the original builder spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to clearance the fiberglass for the air cleaner so it would look like it came from the factory.

The dash has a ton of holes and the wiring was a joke. It has a nice set of vintage, cable operated steering brakes.

The Dual Cannon mufflers had to go. the baffles were rattling something terrible. This engine smoked so bad when he bought the buggy, I'm amazed oil wasn't running out the mufflers. We honed the cylinders and installed new rings and now it runs nice and clean.

A nice new K&N air filter, a new header, and the back of the body trimmed in a symmetrical fashion and it looks a lot better. Notice the Chevy Vega tail lights. Each taillight has 2- dual filement bulbs, so it can be seen during the day. There are fiberglass enclosures made to cover the back of the taillights, it's a nice feature.

New Super Trapp installed along with a double tube bumper.
The Super Trapp really quieted the buggy down. It's a pleasure to drive down the road.
You have to excuse the ground clamp for the welder that is clamped on the exhaust. The new muffler was needed once Tom installed the new 1835 cc engine with a single Weber 44IDF.

Tom's generator belt decided to leave in the middle of our 90 mile trip home. Believe it or not, 5 VW buggys and nobody had a spare!

There it is, a beltless generator. We found a "fractional HP' belt at an ACE hardware that was on the verge of closing. It fit fine and got us the rest of the way home.
