Rear apron spot welds were drilled out carefully and inner seam welds ground off.

Drilled out the two lower bolt holes.

Made two brackets out of 5mm flat steel. Used a cardboard template to get them right before cutting. Two steel nuts welded on.

By clearancing the flat steel it sits over the previously threaded fender bolt lugs. A round bar will be welded between the these two brackets for strength but will be left until after exhaust is in place.

New repro apron is a poor fit - needs some tweaking (what I'd give for an NOS apron!). I had to cut the inner section off so it was readily removable.

The marked section had to be trimmed to so it won't scratch crap out of the new paint when it is going on and off.

Not too much ground clearance between sump and ground! Watch out speed bumps.

Decided to remove the seal strip and run a 'mexican' style seal that clips to the decklid. Just to eliminate another possible rust/moisture trap. Also just for a cleaner look.

Here is the original rear apron, due to the repro panel having a later style latch catch so had to cut off the original...

....and had to weld it onto the new repro apron. Cleaned up the welds and voila. Done.

Only a tiny bit of filler was required to smooth it all over. Didn't bother filling the bolt holes in case I use them later for a decklid standoff or something like that.
