After blasting the bonnet ended up a 'little' wobbly. Here it is in etch primer.

Although it looks like a load of filler, it is actually a very thin skim coat and panel beating (by an amatuer) couldn't straighten it all out.

Now in primer - starting to take shape.

Beige primer is high build - it will receive more soon to sort out the high/low spots.

Rear quarter after some metal work to straighten things up. This is where the original owner's daughter ran into the BMW and scraped it along the drivers side including the front guard, quarter, door and rear guard. All is not lost...it will come good soon!

More work has continued on the rear quarter - still some more tickling with high build primer and guide coats etc to come.

Another shot - primer shows through the filler underneath - will seal it up with the high build primer soon.

Work on the front quarter has continued, lots of metal work required and a fair bit of massaging (warped things a little when I welded in rust repair sections!)

Work is continuing on the body - mainly the passenger (L) front and rear quarters to go. Soon will come the high build primer and more guide coats etc to do final smoothing before paint.

Here is where I finished today - slowly but surely other areas of the body are being smoothed and primed. Any dark grey areas are still works in progress.

Removed the bonnet seal strip up on the sides and down front to run the 'mexican' style seal that clips to the bonnet.

Close up of the front minus seal strip - no major rust just a bit of pitting that required some glaze putty.

Engine bay sound proofing tabs removed and smoothed - primer now down.

Three nuts welded to firewall are to hold holley fuel pressure regulator in place.

Passenger side rear quarter needed a fair bit of work - getting close to straight now.

Front quarter also getting close to being right - still a little more tickling required after high build primer goes on.

Front apron sorted - under-bonnet area just has a little work left in spare wheel well and underdash area that was modified.

Area in front of windscreen was pretty good but needed a little glaze filler in a few spots after a bit of metalwork to straighten out a few dents.

Grab handle is removed and smoothed over after plugs were welded in place (used small sections cut from the same area of a doner car so the contours were right)

Rear guards after panel work, guide coating etc...

...and after high build primer went down. More guide coats to come.

Fronts looking nice and patchy...

...but not for long, all the one colour now.

Did a bit more fine tuning of the guards today - laid down a guide coat (mist of matt black spray can stuff).

Used 400 grit dry paper to rub it back and find any more imperfections (only a few thankfully that required some glaze putty).

Last coat of high build primer finally is on - this will be lightly rubber back just before the colour goes on! (yeeharr...can't wait for that day)

Doors hanging sanded with 400 grit and ready for primer....

....and voila...primer is on

...and couldn't forget the rear guards too. Glad these are done, they required a lot of work.
