It made it to the beach. Actually Tom's buggy went the whole week without having any problems. Now Tom is a different story.

My sand rail is an Appletree 4 seat chassis that weighs in at 790lbs. It's best time at the sand drags is a 4.80. Not to shabby for a buggy that sees the dunes every chance I get.

This picture was taken by my friend Tom, during 1 of our trips to Silver Lake in 2002. The buggy belongs to Tom, it's running an 1835 w/engle 120 cam and a single Weber 44 IDF. He drives it everywhere. The Baja is mine. I bought it in the middle of the Winter with the intention of using it for parts. Once I got it home I noticed it was rust free. Needless to say, I didn't cut it up, I got it running (stock 1600 DP) and replaced all the brake components,I have put 20,000 miles on that ugly little car since. I love it.

My $400 buck,Daily driver, 69 VW Baja in Silver Lake dunes. I'm rolling up my tow strap after being pulled off the crest of the dune. The guy that pulled me out was laughing because I was stuck, I told him to put a stock 1600 cc motor in his jeep and leave it in 2wd and see if he gets to the top of the dune to get stuck. It's all in good fun.
